I Heart Me

Updated: Jan 19, 2023

It is easy to say that loving yourself is an easy thing to do, but in reality, it's not. I always believe that I am self-confident and that I have good looks that will motivate me every day. But after a moment, my self-esteem would go down, and then I would be anxious about myself again. When I look into my body and compare it to others', I see a big difference. I always wanted to be like somebody else who was flawless. I always care about what others say about my appearance.

As time went by, I realized that you shouldn't go by the standards of other people in order to satisfy their eyes. It is just their beauty standards that are imperfect. When you have good self-esteem, you appreciate yourself, and you realize that you deserve good care and respect—from yourself and from others. You don't tear yourself down if you make a mistake and you can recognize and enjoy your strengths and abilities.

When you have high self-esteem, you don't lose that feeling even in the face of challenging emotions or circumstances. I also realized that you shouldn't always look at others based on what they have because you might discover that someone else wishes they had a feature you have but you find undesirable. The next time you catch yourself thinking negatively about your body or appearance, stop for a moment and consider your current circumstances.

Do you feel worried, depressed, or stressed out? Do you have difficulties in other areas of your life? When unfavorable thoughts arise, consider what you would advise a buddy to do in a similar circumstance before acting on your own counsel. We should also think about our mental health and not stress ourselves too much in order to have a good sense of self-worth.
